The phenomenal effects of green tea!!!

Today, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world, second only to water. It has been cultivated for centuries, beginning in India and China. There are three varieties of tea –green, black and oolong. Despite the fact that green, black and oolong teas come from the leaves of Camellia sinensis plant, green tea leads in regard of health benefits!

Why don’t other Chinese teas have similar health-giving properties?

What sets green tea apart is the way it is processed.

Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the oxidation of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechi n gallate (EGCG). By contrast, black and oolong tea leaves are made from fermented leaves, which results in the EGCG being converted into other compounds that are not nearly as effective in preventing and fighting various diseases.

A brief outline of health benefits of green tea are listed below-

- Anti-ageing properties: Due to a high level of anti-oxidants.

- Lowers the risk of heart attack: By inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots.

- Helps fight cancer: EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant ,besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue

- Useful in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

- Diabetes

- Liver disease

- Proven efficacy in weight loss

- Prevents tooth decay

Furthermore, it has been proven that green tea may reduce levels of LDL cholesterol, as stated in the New York Times. Although the effect may still be minimal, it still worth for a shot for those who are suffering from high cholesterol level. Another option better than none, right?

All about brain, the most important organ in our body ..

Hello there, I just came by with an article in BBC that surprised me a lot. According to this article, there is actually more than 100 different types of brain tumour and each type of them depends on the types of cells involved. The most common one will be glioma and it is formed from the nerve cells of the brain.

In this article, they did mention about the most common causes of brain cancer, which are age, genetics, exposure to ionising radiation and some other causes. The most common brain cancer symptoms and treatments are stated inside this article too, in which I think it is very important for all of us to have at least the basic knowledge in identifying a brain cancer, which, unfortunately, can happen to anyone in our family.

For more details about this article, please click here

Another thing that I am going to talk about right now is some important facts about our human brain, which i think is very crucial to keep them in mind.

1. 80% of the brain is water. This means that it is important that you remain properly hydrated for the sake of your mind.

2.Our brain is more active at night as compared to day.

3. Information travels along neurons at different speeds. This is why sometimes you can recall information instantly, and sometimes it takes a little longer.

4.Our brain makes up only 2% of our body weight yet it requires 20% of oxygen that enters our bloodstream.

5. Alcohol interferes with brain processes by weakening connections between neurons.

6. Laughing at a joke is no simple task as it requires activity in five different areas of the brain.

7. Differences in brain weight and size do not equal differences in mental ability. The weight of Albert Einstein’s brain was 1,230 grams that is less than an average weight of the human brain.

8. A living brain is so soft you could cut it with a table knife.

9. There are about 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the brain.

10. The brain can live for 4 to 6 minutes without oxygen, and then it begins to die. No oxygen for 5 to 10 minutes will result in permanent brain damage.

Hope that will be most useful for all of u. Pls feel free to drop a comment if ever want to talk about the topic.
